Possibilities of increasing tightness of semimetal seals. Major features of the semimetal seals have been discussed. Examples of design solutions of semimetal seals with increased tightness have been given. Influence of contact pressure and of the elastoplastic material properties on tightness of different seals have been presented. The importance of the knowledge of both the sealing mechanism of a seal type, as well as properties of the materials used for the construction of the high tightness seal. A new design of the the spiral seal has been described.

A mobile device for automatic measurement of leakage volume in compressed air systems. An indirect measuring method of measuring leakage volume in a controlled flow compressed air system in a pipeline branch. This method requires the inclusion of a measuring device on a branch of the compressed air system. To automatically monitor the leakage volume in the compressed air system by the new method, a demo version of a mobile gauge has been produced. The design of the measuring system, the functions and parameters of the device have been discussed. Exemplary measurement results have been presented.

Applications of pneumatic drive and control systems in student project works. The article presents the subject area of the projects connected with issues of pneumatic drive and control carried out at the Institute for Machine Tools and Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Lodz. Selected works which depict the learning outcome of the studying process both at the engineering and master stage have been presented. Also, an important utilitarian aspect of some very popular elements of the pneumatic drive and control has been highlighted.

A stand for investigating the static characteristics of the pneumatic brake valves. The article describes a stand for determining the static characteristics of the pneumatic brake valves for farming trailers. The structure of the valve control system and a multi-channel measurement track featuring special software enabling processing of the recorded data have been described. Exemplary results of determining the static characteristics of the valve actuating the trailer brakes have been presented.
